Summer Newsletter 6 [Friday 24th May]
Dear Parents & Carers
Our Woodlands Sports Festival begins on Monday 24th June – that’s only 31 days away! We are really excited about this event; it’ll be launched with our very own opening ceremony. This will be followed by a BMX display& then BMX workshops for our older children. During the fortnight, the children will have a chance to try their hand at various sports, including tennis, climbing & football. The children will get to take part in Olympic-themed multi-sport events & fitness sessions too. They’ll get to meet Olympians & Paralympians, who will be talking to the children in special assemblies, as well as demonstrating their sports.
I thought I’d better share some dates of events in the summer term so you can put them in your diaries:
- Wednesday 3 July Reception & KS1 Olympic Sports Day [morning]
- Thursday 4 July KS2 Olympic Sports Day [morning]
- Friday 5 July reserve date for Olympic Sports Days
- Wednesday 10 July Nursery Olympic Sports day [time to be confirmed]
- Thursday 11 July Y2 end of year show [morning]
- Saturday 13 July Circus Sensible shows [details to follow]
- Wednesday 16 July Y6 WOODfest [details to follow]
Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning…

This week, our whole school attendance is 92.1% - well below our 97% target. We had no classes with 100% attendance. We have only 1 class equalling or bettering 97%: Green Class (97.1%).
We had 2 classes who had no late marks this week: 3/4M & 5/6P. We had 28 late marks across the whole school. 25 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 3 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.
I hope you all have a restful/busy/calm/exciting/cautious/adventurous* break over half term.
*Delete as appropriate.
Don’t forget school is closed on Monday 3 June so we will see you all again on Tuesday 4 June.
