Summer Newsletter 3 [Friday 3rd May]
Dear Parents & Carers
Congratulations to the Natterjack Toads for winning the inaugural KS2 Woodlands Intra School House Cross Country Championships. The races were a tremendous success – the children really gave it their all whilst running & showed great support of their peers too. The other houses needn’t worry, there will be another championship held as part of our festival of sport later this academic year. The top 10 children (5 girls & 5 boys) in each year group have earned the right to represent Woodlands at the North Sefton Cross Country Championships on Thursday 23rd May.
A plea… please, please, please, make sure you put your child’s name in their clothes! As the weather becomes warmer, the children abandon their jumpers & cardigans in random places, not only in their classrooms but across the playgrounds & school field. They may be used as goalposts, boundary markers or invisibility cloaks. Once this item of clothing has been discarded, it is now one of many identical blue items. The process of reuniting said item of clothing to its owner is virtually impossible if there is no name in it.
Here are this week’s ‘nudges’ to find out your child’s learning…

This week, our whole school attendance is 96.4% We no classes with 100% attendance. We have 4 other classes equalling or bettering 97%: Red Class (99.5%), Green Class (97.9%), Yellow Class (98.0%) 3/4M (99.0%).
We had 2 classes who had no late marks this week: 3/4M & 4W. We had 19 late marks across the whole school. All 19 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 0 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.
I have attached a flyer from Compassion Acts about a fundraiser in June – the Rodeo Ramble. We worked with Compassion Acts earlier in the year when our families donated 448kg of items for their foodbank / food pantry (as part of our Harvest Festival celebrations). If you can, please support them on 9th June. You’ll help them in their mission “to reduce poverty & enhance wellbeing in Southport & Formby”.
I hope you all have a lovely, long weekend. Don’t forget, it’s a bank holiday on Monday so the children will return to school on Tuesday 7th May.
