Summer Newsletter 1

Dear Parents & Carers

We’re in the final term of the academic year – I don’t know where the time goes! Once they’ve been finalised, I’ll be sending home the dates of our various events during the summer term.

We’ve had a number of pupils (from reception to Y6) join Woodlands over the past week. It’s always wonderful to see just how welcoming our pupils are. Our children are so good at making sure that their new classmates settle in quickly, from small things, like where to put their coats, to more important issues like how to navigate our lunch system! Most importantly, our children make sure that the new children always have someone to play with.

We’re waiting for the final report from Ofsted to be published – as soon as we receive it we’ll forward it on to you.

Here are the ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your child’s learning this week.

This week our attendance is 96.2%. Well done to Blue Class (98.8%), Yellow Class (99.1%), 3G (97.0%), 4C (98.8%) & 5/6P (99.2%) for breaking the 97% mark.

We had 3 classes who had no late marks this week: Yellow Class, 3/4M, & 6R. It’s a slightly better week for punctuality: 21 late marks across the whole school. 15 late marks ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 6 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

If your child is in Y3 to Y6 please make sure that they have a pair of trainers with them to get changed into for when we go on to the field at lunchtime. They cannot wear the same shoes/trainers as they are wearing in class – they must have a change of footwear.

Next week, the installation of the new junior trim trail will begin – we are all very excited! There will workers on site throughout each day & we will be obviously keeping the children well away from any work. However, the company does need access to the site so please be careful when bringing your children to school or picking them up as there will be work vehicles moving across the site at times.

Enjoy the weekend – the weather forecast looks okay.
