Spring Newsletter 5
Dear Parents & Carers
We’re looking forward to welcoming you back into school for our parents evenings next week [Tuesday 8th & Wednesday 9th February (4pm-7pm)]. As I wrote in a previous email, you’ll be able to look through a selection of your children’s books before or after you meeting with the teacher. As a reminder, I’ve included the measures we’ve asked people to follow on the evening they attend:
- We are happy for both parents to attend each appointment if they so wish.
- Please do not bring your children into the consultation with the class teacher.
- A lateral flow test should be taken before attending the parents evening.
- If you are unwell for any reason please do not attend.
- Feel free to wear a face covering if you wish.
- All classrooms & corridors will be well-ventilated (i.e. windows will be open) - please wear suitably warm clothing!
- Hand sanitiser units will be available at the entrance to every classroom.
Due to illness, we have rearranged Mr Grant’s (3G) parents evening for after February half term on Tuesday 1st & Wednesday 2nd March (4pm-7pm). Our nursery class parents evening for our N2 children will be held on Tuesday 1st March (1pm-7pm). After half term, we will send out links to Google Forms to enable you to book your appointments.
Next week, we’re welcoming Sean Perkins, Woodlands Patron of Reading, back to school in person. Over 2 days, he’ll be holding workshops with children from Y1 to Y6. Sean writes & illustrates his own books so the children will be able ask questions & get tips from a published author, which will be good for our future writers.
Here’s the conversation starters to help you find out about your child’s learning in class this week:

Our school football team played an away match at Trinity St Peter’s on Tuesday evening. They came away with a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Jackson (a towering header at the back post) & Jameson (a neat finish following a mazy solo run).
This week, our overall attendance has fallen to 92.3%. Only one class has achieved an attendance of 97% or more; well done to 3/4M (97.0%).
We had 6 classes who had no late marks this week: Green Class, Purple Class, Yellow Class, 5D, 5/6P & 6R. It’s been a much-improved week for punctuality: 11 late marks across the whole school. 10 late marks ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 1 late mark ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am. Let’s see if we can get the late marks down into single figures next week.
I hope you enjoy the weekend – see you next week!
