Spring Newsletter 5 [Friday 9th February]

Dear Parents & Carers

February half term. Half way through the year. Blimey.

It was Express Yourself Day at school today as part of Children’s Mental Health Week; the children were able to express themselves by choosing their own clothes for the day. The theme this year was ‘My Voice Matters’. The question they have been pondering in class assembly time is ‘What suggestions have you got for the School Council about how we could improve play time?’ We do have a small budget for this so I’m looking forward to hearing from Mrs Mowatt & her school council as to what ideas they think we could get behind.

Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning:

Nursery

Can you talk retell the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’?

{Literacy}

Reception [Red & Blue]

What do you know about Chinese New Year?

{Understanding the World}

Y1&2 [Green, Yellow & Purple]

{Science topic: ‘Oceans & Undersea Creatures’}

Y3&4 [3A, 3/4M & 4G]

Can you talk about the different stages of the Gunpowder Plot?

Can you explain how you generated the homepage of your website about South America?

{Computing topic: ‘Webpage Creation’}

This week, our whole school attendance is 93.8% - well below our 97% target. We have 2 classes with 100% attendance – congratulations to Red Class & Yellow Class! We only have one other class equalling or bettering 97%: Purple Class (97.1%).

We had 2 classes who had no late marks this week: 3/4M & 5/6P. We had 34 late mark across the whole school. 29 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 5 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

I hope you all have a peaceful/busy/calm/exciting/relaxing/eventful half term [delete as appropriate].

Last word

Have you heard about the new game called ‘Quiet Tennis’?

It’s like normal tennis but without the racquet…
