Spring Newsletter 2 [Friday 19th January]
Dear Parents & Carers
Over the next few months we will be inviting parents into school to Come Dine with their children. It’s a chance for you to come into school to sample one of Holly the Chef & her team in the kitchen’s wonderful meals! We have a few dates pencilled in already:
- Y3 Wednesday 31st January
- Y4 Wednesday 7th February
- Y6 Thursday 7th March
- Y5 Wednesday 13th March
The invite to Y3 parents has already been sent out & the rest will follow over the next few weeks. Come Dine with Me dates for reception, Y1 & Y2 will be arranged in due course. The cost will be £3.50 per adult. Unfortunately, we will only be able to accommodate one adult per child – a close relative, i.e. a parent or a grandparent.
Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning:

This week, our whole school attendance is 96.2% - below our 97% target. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance & we have 4 classes equalling or bettering 97%: Red Class (98.2%), Green Class (97.2%), 3/4M (99.3%) & 5/6P (97.4%).
We had only 2 classes who had no late marks this week: 3/4M & 5/6P. Punctuality has been really disappointing this week. We had 62 late mark across the whole school. 58 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 4 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.
On Monday, I’ll be sending out the details of our spring-term parents evenings – keep an eye out for the School Spider message.
Finally, I’m sure you would like to join me, & the whole of the Woodlands staff, in wishing Miss Pickford all the best as she begins her maternity leave. She will be missed by staff & pupils alike but we know what a wonderful time she has ahead of her. We can’t wait to meet the new addition to the Woodlands family!
We are pleased to have been able to appoint Miss Rathe to cover Miss Pickford’s maternity leave. Miss Rathe is an experienced teacher & I’m sure she’s going to make a great contribution to our Y5&6 team.
I hope you all have a grand weekend

Last word revisited
Ancient Egyptians were great builders,
but only up to a point…
Thanks to Miss Pickford
