Spring Newsletter 13 [Friday 31st March]
Dear Parents & Carers
Well, that’s two thirds of the year complete – just the summer term to go. The final term of the year flies by as it is always jam-packed: sports days, Y6 SATs, end of year shows, Woodlands Summer Fair, Y4 multiplication tables check, FOWSA’s Bingo Night, visits to new classes, Y1 phonics screening check, Y6 PGL residential, reports to parents, visits to high school – to name but a few!
Our Y6 pupils took part in an excellent workshop, ‘Speak Out, Stop Hate’, led by Catherina from the Anthony Walker Foundation. The quality of discussion throughout the session was excellent, with the children showing great insight into the issues involved. The children learnt about Anthony’s story & so much more:
- they gained further understanding of what prejudice, discrimination & anti-racism mean;
- they explored the difference between being non-racist & being anti-racist;
- they talked about why it is important to celebrate & respect what makes us different;
- they discussed why it is crucial to speak out against racism to make our community safe for everyone.
I would like to thank Catherina for leading such a brilliant session.

This week, our whole school attendance is 93.2% ? We had no classes with 100% attendance this week & no classes reaching or exceeding our 97% target.
We had had 1 class who had no late marks this week: 3/4M. We had 35 late marks across the whole school. 30 late marks were ‘before the register closed’ (that’s before 9.20am) & 5 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

Last word
I asked the gym instructor to teach me how to do the splits.
He asked me how flexible I was.
I said, “I can’t make Tuesdays…”
