Spring Newsletter 12 [Friday 24th March]

Dear Parents & Carers

I can’t believe we’re approaching the final week of the spring term – it only seems like yesterday we were returning after the Christmas break (maybe it’s an age thing…).

I’d like to thank Miss Pickford & Mrs Rimmer for presenting our Y6 SATs information evening this week – it was such an informative session, with lots of practical tips for parents & carers to help their children achieve as well as they can in May. It was great to see so many parents attend. Another good example of our school motto: Working together, achieving more.

Here’s the ‘nudges’ to help you find about your children’s learning this week …

Nursery

Can you talk about The Great Pet Sale? Can you remember which pet the little boy chose at the end of the story?

{Literacy ‘The Great Pet Sale Mick’ Inkpen}

Reception [Red & Blue]

Can you name some of the planets? Talk about what some of them are like.

{Understanding the World}

Y1&2 [Green, Yellow & Purple]

Tell me something you have learnt about David Attenborough.

{English topic: ‘Little People, Big Dreams: David Attenborough’

Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara}

Y3&4 [3A, 3/4M & 4G]

Explain how flowering plants make new plants.

{Science topic: ‘Plants’}

Y5&6 [5D, 5/6P & 6R]

Explain the difference between area & perimeter. How would you calculate each one?

{Maths topic: ‘Area & Perimeter’}

I’d like to give advance notice to our Y6 families. Woodfest III, our Y6 leavers’ end of year show, will take place on the school field, weather permitting, on the afternoon of Friday 14th July. The gates will open at 12.30pm for families to join their children for a picnic before the show begins in earnest at 1pm. Further details will be sent nearer the time.

Don’t forget that we finish for the Easter break on Friday 31st March at 2pm.

I hope you have a terrific weekend
