Autumn Newsletter 9 [Friday 10th November]
Dear Parents & Carers
This week, our Y6 pupils took part in the ‘Speak Out, Stop Hate’ workshop delivered by Jude Agis from the Anthony Walker Foundation. The children were engaged throughout & participated eloquently. The workshop covered a range of topics:
- Anthony’s story
- developing an understanding of what prejudice, discrimination & anti-racism are
- the difference between being non-racist versus being anti-racist
- why it is important to celebrate & respect what makes us different
- the importance of speaking out against racism
Mrs Agis was very impressed with both the children’s behaviour & how they responded to the subject matter. We’d like to thank Mrs Agis & the Anthony Walker Foundation for delivering such an inspirational workshop.
Next Friday, it is BBC Children in Need! This year, we would like every child to bring a bear to school (any cuddly toy will do) to celebrate the day (the bears will return home at the end of the day). All we ask is for the children to bring £1 (£2 per family) to support this wonderful cause. BBC Children in Need works with children throughout the length & breadth of the UK. From Monday 13th November, our house captains will be selling a limited range of Pudsey Bear goodies:
- Pudsey pin badges £1
- Pudsey wristbands £1
- Pudsey ears £2.50
If your child is in the EYFS or the infants (nursery, reception & Y1&2) please send the money in a named envelope. These items will be sold by our house captains to our different phases within school at morning break times in the infant & junior halls. Nursery staff will oversee the sales to their children.
This week’s ‘nudges’ to help you start conversations about your children’s learning are as follows…

We had only had one class who had no late marks this week: 5/6P. We had 32 late mark across the whole school. 24 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 8 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.
Each Wednesday, Mr Grant will be publishing e-safety guides (#wakeupwednesday) on the news section of the school website - they are very useful guides for parents & carers. Here are the links for the first couple of guides (one about X – formerly known as Twitter and the other on microtransactions – those in-game purchases that can add up to a small fortune if unchecked)
