Autumn Newsletter 7 [Thursday 20th October]

Dear Parents & Carers

One half term over already – that’s roughly a sixth of this academic year completed. Christmas is only 66 days away…

I’d like to thank everyone who attended parents evening on Tuesday & everyone who is booked in for tonight. We are lucky to have such supportive parents at Woodlands – by working together we can ensure our children achieve more. Well done for successfully navigating the School Spider app too! Once we are using a single system for our website, messaging, appointments, payments, etc. life will be much simpler.

Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning:

Nursery

We have been listening carefully to the sounds we can hear both inside & outside. What sounds can you hear around you?

{Understanding the World / Literacy}

Reception [Red & Blue]

The Rainbow Fish shared his scales. Talk abut times & things you have shared.

{Personal Social Emotional Development / Literacy}

Y1&2 [Green, Yellow & Purple]

Can you tell me one way of keeping safe when using the internet?

{Computing topic: ‘Internet Safety’}

Y3&4 [3G, 3/4M & 4T]

In the letter that you wrote, how did you persuade your owner to use you differently?

{English topic: ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ Drew Daywalt / Oliver Jeffers}

Y5&6 [5D, 5/6P & 6R]

What is the definition of a factor & a multiple? What does it mean when you’re asked to find common factors & multiples?

{Maths topic: ‘Properties of Number’}

It’s been a short week this week, but this week, our whole school attendance is slightly down on last week at 94.3%. We had no classes with 100% attendance this week & no classes exceeding our 97% target.

We had 3 classes who had no late marks this week: Yellow Class, 3/4M & 5/6P. We had 28 late marks across the whole school. 27 late marks were ‘before the register closed’ (that’s before 9.20am) & 1 late mark ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

I’ve been asked to pass on some exciting information about the new ‘Beaver Colony’ that is starting at the 8th (St Luke’s) Scout Group on 3rd November 2022 6pm – 7pm.

“This is an open session – for anyone who is between the age of 6 and 8 and interested in seeing all the fun things that we get up to each week at Beavers. We are planning to have lots of exciting games and activities on offer.  Parents and carers are most welcome to stay for the session – we will have refreshments available. And the good thing is – this first session is absolutely free.”

Contact details are on the attachment with this newsletter.

Remember, school is closed for pupils tomorrow. I hope you have a good break over half term. We’ll see you all again on Monday 31st October – usual time, usual place.
