Autumn Newsletter 7 [Friday 20th October]

Dear Parents & Carers

I would like to thank everyone who sent items in for our harvest appeal. Food Pantry Formby picked up everything up this morning – they were thrilled with the amount we had managed to collect. Thank you again for supporting such a worthy cause.

Thank you too to everyone who attended our parents evenings this week; it was good to see so many of you there. When links between home & school are positive & strong, your children will thrive.

Here are the ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your child’s learning this week:

Nursery

This week, our whole school attendance is 96.1% - below our 97% target. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance & we have 3 classes equalling or bettering 97%: Red Class (98.7%), Yellow Class (97.9), 5/6P (98.7%) & 6R (99.7%).

We had 4 classes who had no late marks this week: Blue Class, 3/4M, 5/6P & 5D. We had 29 late mark across the whole school. 28 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 1 late mark ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

I have attached a flyer for Range High School’s annual Arts Star competition; you should already have received details of how to enter your child (sent by School Spider message yesterday). The children, whether they are dancing, singing, playing the piano, telling jokes, etc., need to have costumes. Each act should be very well-rehearsed (they should not be making up a song/dance on the spot & they should not be reading words/lyrics from a piece of paper). If they are dancing or singing they will need to bring their own instrumental backing track (or at least be able to tell us which specific YouTube video to play to accompany them), they should not simply be singing along with a song.

I have also attached an information leaflet about a pilot project that Woodlands is part of: TAS [Team Around the School]. We are pleased to be part of this important Sefton initiative which will add another layer of support for our children & families.

I hope you have a good break over half term - we’ll see everyone again on Monday 30th October.

Last word revisited

Sad news. Today we lost the inventor of the protractor.

They’re with the angles now.
