Autumn Newsletter 6 [Friday 13th October]

Dear Parents & Carers

I would like to remind parents & carers that we have a policy of no smoking or vaping on the school site – that’s not just inside the school building but on the playgrounds & playing field too. I would be grateful for the cooperation of parents & carers with this matter. Our policy, ‘Code of Conduct for Parents, Carers and Visitors’, can be found on the school website under Key Information / Policies.

Earlier this week, Y1&2 had a wonderful time at Martin Mere taking part in a range of activities: a perfect portion of pond-dipping; a marvellous mini-beast hunt; a wonderful wildfowl walk. According to the still excited but tired children (as they arrived back to school) other highlights of the trip were seeing the otters & the baby flamingos. Everyone had a great day – the children in Green, Purple & Yellow classes were thoroughly engrossed throughout their visit & their behaviour was superb too.

This week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning are as follows… (I’m a wee bit disturbed that reception seem to be suggesting that Elmer isn’t a ‘real’ elephant… who’s next on their reality hitlist – Mr Tickle? Winnie the Witch? Hairy Maclary?!)

Nursery

Can you continue a repeating pattern? Can you spot any patterns around you?

{History topic: ‘World War I’}

This week, our whole school attendance is 95.1% - well below our 97% target. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance & we have 3 classes equalling or bettering 97%: Blue Class (97.3%), 3/4M (98.3%) & 6R (98.7%).

We had 3 classes who had no late marks this week: 3/4M, 5/6P & 5D. We had 20 late mark across the whole school. 19 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 1 late mark ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

Thank you to everyone who has sent items in so far for our harvest appeal to support Formby Food Pantry. Please send any items into class with your child. We will be collecting for this wonderful cause until Thursday 19th October.

Our first parents evenings (reception – Y6) of this academic year are next week: Tuesday 17th & Thursday 18th October (4pm-7pm). I look forward to seeing you there.

I hope you have a great weekend
