Autumn Newsletter 13 [Friday 8th December]

Dear Parents & Carers

FOWSA held their Christmas extravaganza, Festive Friday, today. The children had a great time - playing lots of games, testing their skills (& their luck) & coming away with a bag full of goodies. I must thank everyone who has helped in any way to organise this event, whether it was producing the posters, collecting the donations in school, setting up the room or staffing the stalls. If it wasn’t for this intrepid small band of volunteers, these events would not be able to happen. Please contact FOWSA if you are able to help at future events – you don’t have to attend everything that is put on. FOWSA are a welcoming bunch & will be grateful for any time you can give.   [email protected]

Please can I ask you to put your children’s names in their clothes? A blue school sweatshirt is a blue school sweatshirt – if it hasn’t got a name it’s virtually impossible to find who it belongs to. Children are children, they may see something shiny & wander away from their sweatshirt, completely forgetting about it – this is now a nameless blue sweatshirt in a school of 300+ other blue sweatshirts. Every day we come across abandoned jumpers, pumps, coats, cardigans & the occasional pair of trousers (?!) – if they haven’t got names in we can’t return them. Help us reunite items with their owners that are mislaid in classrooms, abandoned in the lunch hall or forgotten on the playgrounds. #pleasewriteyourchildsnameintheirjumperssweatshirtscardigansdressesshortstrousersskirtspumpscoatspoloshirtsshoesmaybenamesinsocksistakingthingstoofarbutIwillleavethatuptoyou

This week, our whole school attendance has dropped to 92.0% - well below our target of 97%. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance & we only have 2 classes equalling or bettering 97%: Red Class (97.4%) & Yellow Class (97.6%).

We had 3 classes who had no late marks this week: Red Class, 5D & 5/6P. We had 31 late mark across the whole school. 29 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 2 late marks ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.

Next week’s festive events are as follows:

Wednesday 13th December

9.00am: Y1 The Twinkly Nativity’ (This shiny retelling of the traditional story, with a good dose of dazzle and no shortage of delight, is perfectly written for getting the audience in the mood for Christmas. Its songs are sure to ‘Bring some twinkle to your toes’.)

Thursday 14th December

All the Christmas activities, parties & shows are listed on the school website ‘Upcoming Events’ pages: https://www.woodlandsschoolformby.co.uk/

I’ve attached a flyer from Churches Together with details of their annual Village Nativity on Saturday 16th December.
