Autumn Newsletter 11 [Friday 24th November]
Dear Parents & Carers
The first stirrings of Christmas have been glimpsed at Woodlands… parts have been auditioned for & cast; dances have begun to be choreographed; vocal chords are being warmed up. Over the coming weeks, the children’s excitement will grow (as staff energy wanes) & will culminate in festive performances: nursery (Christmas Extravaganza), reception (Gnome Alone), Y1 (The Twinkly Nativity) & Y3/4 (Christmas Singalong), Check out the school website ‘events’ for dates.
Next week, all the children in school, from nursery to Y6, will begin a two-week English topic based on the book ‘An Emotional Menagerie’. The book’s blurb describes it as ‘an emotional glossary for children. A book of 26 rhyming poems, arranged alphabetically, that bring our feelings to life.’ I can’t wait to see the wonderful work that this marvellous book inspires.
Here’s this week’s ‘nudges’ to help you find out about your children’s learning:

This week, our whole school attendance is 95.7% - our target is 97%. We have 0 classes with 100% attendance & we have 4 classes equalling or bettering 97%: 3/4M (99.0%), 5D (98.2%), 5/6P (97.4%) & 6R (98.1%).
We had had 3 classes who had no late marks this week: Red Class, 3/4M & 5/6P. We had 38 late mark across the whole school. 37 late mark were ‘before the register closed’ – that’s before 9.20am & 1 late mark ‘after the register has closed’, that’s after 9.20am.
Sorry to finish this week’s newsletter with a bit of a moan but I’m afraid I’m going to have to mention parking again. I am disappointed to say that recently we have had complaints from both neighbours & parents. Parking across people’s driveways is selfish – it doesn’t matter that you’re only going to be there for “5 minutes” – it’s selfish. Parking on double yellow lines or the zig-zags is dangerous – these markings are there for a very good reason. Parking on the pavement puts pedestrians at risk. Parking on the pavement at a junction is even more dangerous. People who are do this are putting Woodlands pupils & parents at risk of harm. Please park more considerately. Ideally, if you have to drive, park slightly further away & walk the last leg of your journey to school.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
