Week commencing 7th November 2022
Date: 10th Nov 2022 @ 3:43pm
This week we have been talking about fireworks. We listened to some firework music and thought about whether it was fast or slow and how it made us feel. We discussed the colours and the patterns that they make in the sky and we did a firework dance. Using coloured sand, we made our own firework patterns.
At home – Can you make or trace some patterns using chalk, pens or pencils? What colours will you choose?
We used clay to make our own prickly hedgehogs. First, we rolled the clay into a ball. Then we pinched it, patted it and pressed the matchsticks into it. We talked about what the clay felt like using words such as sticky, cold, soft and slimy. Using clay or playdough helps to make our hands strong and strengthens our muscles ready for writing.
At home – Use play dough or plasticine to make your own model. Will you roll, pinch or press the dough in order to make your model?
During our outdoor learning session, we looked carefully at the autumn leaves and talked about the different colours, shapes and sizes that we could see. We collected as many different coloured leaves as we could, also choosing different sized and shaped ones. Then we made our own leaf kebabs, carefully threading our leaves onto the wooden skewers.
At home - Can you spot different colours and shapes in the world around you? Can you describe the different shapes to your grownup?
