Week beginning 28th November

Date: 24th Nov 2022 @ 10:38am

This week we are going to be looking at another story that rhymes. We will be reading the famous 'Stickamn' story by Julia Donaldson. We will be encouraging the children to use 'Talk for wrting' to describe the settings in the book. This will encourage their communication, language and speaking skills. They will be writing short captions and holding the words in their head before writing.

You could help your child at home by saying a simple word and asking them to think of something that rhymes with it. You could try words like cat, man, pen, log.

We will be very creative with sticks this week. We will use them to print with. We will also make our very own stickmen and even try wrapping them up using different materials. We will be scientists and try and predict and test which materials float and sink.

Can you spot Stickman on our paintings?

We have loved measuring sticks using different blocks.

We have wrapped sticks to decorate them using crepe paper, ribbon and pipe cleaners.

We have used sticks and pipe cleaners to make our own stickmen to retell the story.

We cut out the stickmen using scissors and then placed in size order.
