Week beginning 20th February 2023

Date: 20th Feb 2023 @ 1:07pm

This week we are starting our new topic ‘Furry Friends.’ We will start our learning by reading the story ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell. We will talk about our favourite animals and we will tell each other about any pets that we have at home.  We will discuss what we need to look after our pets and how to keep them happy and healthy.

At home – Talk about your favourite animal. Can you explain why this animal is your favourite? If you have a pet at home perhaps you could help your grown up to look after it.

We read the book 'The Zoo Vet.' We have been very busy working in our own nursery vet surgery booking appointments and looking after all the animals.

When we came to school on Wednesday, we discovered that all of our zoo animals had disappeared! We set off to find them. They had been hiding in our copse! After finding all of the animals we made cosy homes for them using twigs, leaves and grass.

We are looking forward to taking part in lots of craft activities, including making masks of our favourite zoo animals. We will have to think very carefully about the colours and shapes that we will need. We hope you enjoy guessing which animals we have made.

At home – Perhaps you could try making your own mask or painting a picture of your favourite zoo animal. You could even try using play dough or plasticine to make a model of your animal. Which colours will you need?
