Week beginning 10th January

Date: 9th Jan 2023 @ 1:21pm

This week we are going to be looking at a story that focuses on nocturnal animals. We are going to be thinking about what happens at night time while we are in bed and why some animals are nocturnal. We will be writing short phrases to describe an animal of our choice, concentrating on sounding out words phonetically and forming most letters correctly.

You could talk about nocturnal animals with your child. You could research and look at images of them. You could ask the question: Why are some animals nocturnal?

In mathematics we are comparing quantities to 5. Understanding that one quantity can be the same as, more than or fewer than another quantity. We will be sorting images and using mathematical language to describe our findings.

You could gather groups of objects together from your home and say whether they have 5, more or fewer than.

We will be looking at habitats of nocturnal animals and making dens and woodland scenes. We will creating art work uisng lots of different materials and textures.

We made dens and tents using folded paper to make our maps 3D.We talked about the places and landmarks in the pictures and woods we had created.

We will be moving around using different parts of our bodies to imitate nocturnal animals, singing songs and adding percussion instruments.

Please continue to read regularly with your child at home and revise the letter sounds to enable quick recall.
