Reception-Week beginning 7th May

Date: 3rd May 2024 @ 1:38pm

This week we are beginning to look at things that grow and what they need in order to grow. We will be looking at our new herb garden and making our own little fact books. We will be sketching bunches of flowers and planting seeds. We will be linking our learning to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

At home you could look around your garden, local park and countryside and see what things you can find that are growing at this time of year. You could draw pictures of them or write a list.

In mathematics we are starting a new topic called 'How many now?'. We will be adding more and taking some away from the starting number. We will be using practical objects so that we can manipulate what we are doing. We will also be recording our work using pictorial representations and some numbers and symbols.

At home you could add and take away items from a group and then talk about how many you have now.
