Reception-Week beginning 3rd May
Date: 25th Apr 2023 @ 4:56pm
Over the next 2 weeks we will be reading different versions of the fairytale Rapunzel. We will be looking at how it is retold, the use of language in the openings and endings and illustrations. The children will be immersed in the story before writing their own version. We will be watching animated stories, singing songs and reading books so that they are familiar with the beginning, middle and ending.
If you have the story at home you could read it to them so that they are familiar with the characters and setting.
We will be building tall towers and linking measurement into this activity. We will encourage the children to work together in small groups so that they continue to improve their social and emotional skills. We will be making Rapunzels hair using spaghetti, wool and paper chains.
We will also be celebrating the Coronation of King Charles. We will be making crowns and designing picnics, clothes, flags and a royal Coat of Arms.
In mathematics we will be ordering numbers to 20 and beyond. We will be looking at patterns of numbers and different ways of counting to 20. We will be using number tracks and recording our answers using marks and number sentences.
You could try playing counting games to 20. Taking turns to say each number, seeing who can count backwards. filling in missing numbers, saying which number is in the wrong place.
