Reception- Week beginning 2nd October

Date: 29th Sep 2023 @ 5:29pm

This week we are really looking forward to sharing the wonderful book called 'Elmer'. It opens up lots of opportunities for us to look at animals from different parts of the world and look at maps and settings.

We will be exploring colours and patterns and linking our mathematics focus to our class book too. We will be looking at patterns in our environment, on clothes, around our school and making our own patterns using shapes, colours and numbers.

We have also been comparing objects accoring to their size and weight.

You could look for patterns around your home and on your clothes. You could draw and copy some of these pattern or simply make your own using objects that the children are familiar with.

We have really developed our expressive art and design skills this week by collage and painting.

We have been learning all about elephants, where they live and what they look like. We also looked how we could order them by size. We talked about starting with the smallest first and linking it to our maths lessons on size.
