Reception- Week beginning 27th March
Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 10:10am
This week we are reading the book 'Goodnight Spaceman' by Michelle Robinson. We will be planning our own space adventures. This will encourage 'Talk for writing' and communication and language skills. We will be learning about the astronaut Tim Peake and his space mission. The children will be encouraged to make choices for thier stories and verbally retell their adventure using story language and time words to sequence events.
You could try making up your own stories at home and verbally retell them together. You could read space stories together and listen to some on YouTube to give them ideas about what their adventures could include.
in mathematics we will be discovering the properties of 3D shapes. We will be using mathematical language to describe them and sorting them into groups. It will be a very practical week with the children exploring shapes indoors and outdoors. We will be building models and even link it to our topic on space and build rockets and space ships.
You could look around your homes and gardens and identify and talk about 3d shapes in their close environement.
We will be learning about Easter adn even making cakes to celebrate this time of year. We will be talking about new life, how we celebrate it todays and the story of Jesus at Easter.
Thank you to everyone who came to school on Thursday to help the children make Easter baskets. It was a lovely end to the school day. We are hoping the Easter bunny pays us another visit as he has already been during our 'Outdoor Learning' session!
