Reception-Week beginning 22nd May

Date: 16th May 2023 @ 4:07pm

During the final week of this half term we will be learning about more animal, insect and plant life cycles. We will spend time exploring our outdoor area for signs of wildlife and investigating habitats. We will be ordering and writing about life cycles, especially that of a caterpillar/butterfly. We will be making feeders and homes for bugs and insects. We are really encouraging the children to become independent writers and make notes, draw, label pictures and write captions that match practical activities and investigations.

At home you could explore and look in your garden or local park for wildlife. You could take pictures, draw and write labels or notes about what you find. Encourage the children to use sounds that they can hear as they say the words and please bring anything in that they complete to show us.

In mathematics we are learning to quickly doulbe numbers up to 10. We will be learning theat doubling means twice as many. We will link our learning to life cycles and double to spots on butterfly and ladybug wings.

At home you could double items, toys and food.
