Reception- Week beginning 20th November

Date: 16th Nov 2023 @ 5:03pm

This week we are reading another story by Julia Donaldson. It is the story of Stick Man. We will be joining in with repeated phrases and drawing a story map to retell the main events.

We made a puppet theatre to retell the story.

We will be creating lots of different pieces of art work using sticks. We will print, make stick people, weave and paint with sticks. We will also link this to the theme of autumn. We will colour mix and paint what trees look like at this time of year. We will talk about why the trees lose their leaves.

You could help at home by collecting small sticks and bringing them into school for us to use. You could read and bring in any Julia Donaldson books that you have at home.

We used small sticks and other objects to find out what things float and sink.

In mathematics we are exploring the composition of 4 and 5 and finding 1 less than a number up to 5. We will be using 10 frames and double sided counters to demonstrate how many ways we can find 4 and 5.

At home you could arrange 4 and 5 objects in different ways. You could put them in groups of 2 and 2 for 4 or 3 and 2 for 5.
