Reception-Week beginning 18th September

Date: 14th Sep 2023 @ 4:29pm

We have had a fantastic first full week in school. The children have all adapted really well to our classroom routines and rules. We have been really mature at lunchtime even choosing our own lunches, carrying our trays and trying lots of new and different foods like spanish chicken and sweet and sour! We have been in the 'copse' to explore our outdoor environment, taken part in lots of activities in our classrooms and talked about our families.

Next week we will be reading a wonderful book called 'Super Me'. We will be talking about what we are good at and what we like doing. our aim is to develop speaking and listening skills and use language to describe things that are familiar to us.We will be drawing self portraits and looking at our facial features. We will be exploring different painting techniques.

You could talk about different things that your child likes doing and what they are good at. You could look at photos from different activities that they enjoy like going to the park, holidays and day trips.

In mathematics we will be singing lots of different number songs and rhymes to develop the children's counting skills. We will be counting physical actions as well as objects.

You could count the steps in your home, how many steps from one side of the room to another?
