Reception- Week beginning 18th February
Date: 8th Feb 2024 @ 6:27pm
This half term we are looking at all the people who help us in school and our local community. The roles of the police, fire and ambulance crews will be our main focus. Will be writing reports and descriptions about uniforms and vehicles. The police will be visiting to talk to the children about how they help in the community.
You could look around the village and identify people who help you in Formby. You could talk about shopkeepers, swimming teachers, traffic officers and community helpers.
We will be comparing lengths, heights and time in mathematics. We will be using language to describe longest, shortest, talleast and smallest. We will ordering events too.
You could talk about who is the tallest in your family. You could talk about what you do when you first get up and order events throughout the day.
In our creative area we will be drawing and painting emergency vehicles. We will be looking at fingerprints and investigating different patterns that we find. We will be setting up our own crime scene to investigate. This should encourage the children to talk about the position of objects so that we can make geographical and mathematical links.
