Reception- Week beginning 16th October

Date: 12th Oct 2023 @ 4:44pm

This wek we are reading 'The Rainbow Fish'. We will be looking at how we can be kind, how sharing is good and thinking of how we can share in our classrooms and school. We will be listening to the story, ordering it and retelling what happened in our own words using some story language.

We have been talking about how we can be kind to our friends. We have threaded friendship bracelets.

You could highlight all the different ways and things you share at home and as a family. You could look for some books and stories that you have about sharing.

In mathematics we are beginning to look at numbers, how they are made, different ways of subitising and counting on and back. Our main focus will be on the numbers 1,2,3.

You could count out lots of different things at home. You could also arrange them in different ways so that your child becomes used to seeing things lined up, in a cluster, one on top of the other and in random formations.

Our children are already beginning to shown great independence in our big creative area. They are accessing lots of different materials to collage, paint, draw and model. This week we will be making our own fish with scales and using lots of different materials to create layers and texture
