Reception- Week beginning 14th October

Date: 10th Oct 2024 @ 4:22pm

This week we are learning all about colours and colour mixing through our stories about Elmer the elephant. We will be painting and singing about rainbows and mixing colours to make autuumn shades. The children are learning to listen carefully to stories and join in as they become more familiar with them. We have been developing our understanding of new words that arise in the stories like 'patchwork' and 'parade'.

You could help at home by reading a familiar story many times during the week and encouraging your child to join in and finish phrases.

In mathematics weare learning all about numbers and the pattern of counting in 1's to 10 and back. We will be reading stories with numbers in like Golilocks and The Three Little Pigs. We will be encouraging the children to listen carefully to counting patterns and talk about what they can hear.

You could read some traditional tales that have a focus on numbers like The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Goldilocks and The Three Little Pigs.
