Reception- Week beginning 13th November

This week marks the start of Diwali, the festival of light. We are going to read a book called Binny's Diwali about a little girl who celebrates the festival with her school friends and family. We will looking at the order of events, drawing and writing CVC words about the things that Hindu people do to celelbrate this festival.

You could talk about things that we have celebrated recently like bonfire night, halloween and Remembrance Sunday and how you, as a family, have celebrated.

We will be making clay divas, rangoli patterns and mehndi hand decorations.We will link our learning to our mathematics topics on shape and pattern.

In mathematics we are learning about 4 and 5. We will be making thee numbers in lots of different ways and reading a fantastic story about 4 called ' Pete and his 4 groovy buttons'. 

 

You could try counting things at home and looking how you could arrange 4 and 5 objects in different ways.
