Nursery Week Commencing 4th November 2014

Date: 25th Oct 2024 @ 12:01pm

This week, we are starting our new theme - colours of the rainbow. We will name and explore colours, sort colours and also explore colour mixing.

We will explore some autumn vegetables. We will talk about how they feel, smell and what they look like. We will compare the weight, length and shape of the different vegetables. After looking at the outside of the vegetables, we will cut them in half and investigate their insides too. We will paint and draw our observations as well as using lots of language to describe them.

At home - What vegetables do you like to eat? Can you describe how they look, feel, smell and taste?

As part of our learning, we will also listen to some firework music. We will talk about whether it is fast or slow and how it makes us feel. We will discuss the fireworks that we have seen and the patterns that they made in the sky. We will make our own firework patterns using coloured sand.

At home - Can you make or trace some patterns using chalk, pens or pencils? What colours will you choose?

In maths, we are going to be sorting and comparing groups of objects using the language 'more than' and 'fewer than.' We will be looking closely at the different groups noticing what is the same and what is different .

During our outdoor learning session, we sorted leaves according to their colour. We had to look very carefully and we had lots of discussions about the leaves that were more than one colour and which set to put them into.

We had great fun throwing the leaves in the wind and watching them fall!
