Nursery Week Beginning 6th January 2025

Date: 8th Jan 2025 @ 12:09pm

Happy New Year! This week we have enjoyed welcoming back some old faces and meeting some new friends.

We have settled back in very well and have enjoyed exploring all the areas within the classroom.

We are introducing a new nursery rhyme each week. This week our nursery rhyme is 1,2, buckle my shoe. Perhaps you could try singing it at home.

On a cold and frosty morning we went on a walk to look for signs of winter. We listened to our feet crunching on the frosty ground and found some hard, frozen leaves on the floor. On the bare branches of the trees we noticed some icicles.

In our nursery garden, some of our toys had become stuck in the ice. We had to work out how to try and free them. The ice felt very cold and slippery.

We painted patterns on the ice.

We investigated ice balloons. We looked at the patterns inside them using magnifying glasses and put salt on them to see what would happen. The salt made the surface of the ice very rough and bumpy.
