Nursery Week Beginning 14th October 2024

Date: 10th Oct 2024 @ 4:00pm

This week, we are continuing to read our whole school book 'Quiet' by Tom Percival and Richard Jones. We will discuss the theme of the story and talk about what happened in it. How did the bird save the forest?

We will be creating art work for the story, developing our fine motor skills and talking about the forest colours.

At home - Perhaps you could go for an autumn walk. What colours can you see? You might spot some birds or other creatures. Can you talk about them?

In maths, we are going to continue our learning about repeating patterns. We will use loose parts and shapes to copy and make our own patterns.

At home - Can you spot any patterns around you? Perhaps you could find some natural objects (such as pine cones, conkers and leaves) and make your own pattern.

During our outdoor learning session, we explored the different sounds that we could make using the natural objects that we found around us. We made lots of different types of sounds, including loud, quiet and soft ones. Using twigs, leaves, pine cones and sticks we explored tapping, patting, scraping, swishing and crunching.

At home - What sounds can you make using objects you find around your home? Can you make different sounds if you shake or tap your object? How could you make the sound louder or quieter?
